Mine, Yours, Ours
I’m having a lot of difficulty with these words lately. You see, when I had roommates I’d call the place I lived “mine” as in “My house”**. And when I would see SB at his home, it was “yours”, “Your house”.
Now I have moved into “your house” and would like to call it “my house” but SB thinks I should call it “our house”, which is reasonable, I guess. He is holding me to proper language use in a way that my roommates never have.
My roommates never appreciated my ability to label everything in the house as “mine”. But eventually I wore them down and they would just laugh at my inability to use words properly.
I think and hope that when we move into a new apartment (in about a week), one we have chosen together, the word “ours” will just roll off my tongue.

i have the same problem when talking about my house up in WI. or is it my dad’s house? or is it my family’s house? or is it “where my brother lives”?
now i have a place all to my own again, no roommates. it is great.
MY HOUSE!
