Thank you for all the comments. Yes, I think the 7-layer salad would work well at a potluck. It is tasty and naughty but not too naughty and it is easy to identify what it is. Be sure to give yourself enough time to roast the garlic.

the 7-layer salad looks pretty and delicious… would you recommend it for a potluck? trying to come up with a good dish to bring to J’s work party on Friday.

I’m sorry to have missed your party (and the snacks – esp the 7-layer salad… which I have had since my mom grew up in the 60′s when this was ever so popular. I’m glad to see it’s making a comeback!)

I am happy that you are blogging regularly again! I too have never had or made seven layer salad – but yours looks much more appetizing than the salads I have always wrinkled my nose at when filling my plate at family gatherings. The sofa looks great and I am inspired to write a best of 2009 list myself.
